压应力下脆性椭圆型裂纹的断裂规律

摘 要: 以张型斜裂纹为模型,用理论与实验相结合的方法,研究了脆性材料椭圆裂纹在压应力作用下的断裂规律.采用含不同钝化度和处在不同倾角上的中心预制裂纹的石膏试件为实验对象,该试件受单向压缩加载作用;理论上,采用平面裂纹问题在椭圆坐标下的应力场复变函数解答,并依据最大拉应力破坏准则,对该解进行了分析,指出了传统观点认为裂纹开裂总是出现在尖端附近的局限性,并给出了考虑裂纹几何效应的临界压应力关系.研究结果表明:在非闭合条件下,椭圆裂纹的开裂位置和开裂角都不是一个常数,而是随着裂纹倾角和裂纹钝化程度的变化而变化;理论分析结果与实验结果基本吻合,从而证明了实验分析与理论分析是正确的.

Fracture law of an elliptical brittle crack under compressive loading

Abstract:With the model of an oblique crack, the failure law of an elliptical crack in brittle materials under compressive loading is studied here by using the method of combining the theoretical analysis with experiments. The test specimen with the geometry of 100 mm×150 mm×15 mm and the preexisted crack of different width and the oriented angle is made of gypsum, which is subjected to uniaxial compressive loading. The detailed theoretical analysis is based on the complex function solution of stress field of a plane crack proble munder the elliptical coordinates by using the failure criterion of maximum hoop stress. The results show that under the condition of unclosed crack, both the cracking position and the cracking angle of an elliptical crack under the uniaxial compressive loading are not a constant, but very continuous with the oblique angle and the width of the preexisted crack. It is pointed out that there exist draw-backs in the classical fracture mechanics, which holds that cracking always comes in the end of crack. The paper presents a formula of the critical stress in the compressive failure, which involves the effects ofthe crackgeometry. Finally, some detailed calculationsare given, which are in good concordance with experiment results.
